Cell Membrane contains

The Cell Membrane contains phospholipid bilayer, along with other various lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates.

The Phospholipid bilayer is a thin polar membrane made of two layers of lipid molecules. These membranes are flat sheets that form a continuous barrier around all cells. The lipid bilayer acts as a barrier to the passage of molecules and ions into and out of the cell.

The three major classes of membrane lipids are phospholipids, glycolipids, and cholesterol.

Membrane proteins can function as enzymes to speed up chemical reactions, act as receptors for specific molecules, or transport materials across the cell membrane.

Carbohydrates present in the plasma membrane as short sometimes branched chains of sugars attached either to exterior peripheral proteins (forming glycoproteins) or to the polar ends of phospholipid molecules in the outer lipid layer (forming glycolipids).
