Covid-19 GK Questions and Answers

In the era of the novel coronavirus, we’re all trying to learn more about the pandemic and its spread. We’ve created a quiz with some of the most frequently asked questions on Covid-19.

Covid-19 GK Questions and Answers

Here are some answers to common questions about Covid-19, the disease caused by a new type of coronavirus.

What is Covid-19?

Covid-19 is a contagious respiratory illness that can range from mild to severe in its symptoms, which include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. It spreads through droplets that are produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Where did it start? What’s it called?

The virus causing this condition — severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, or SARS-CoV-2 — was first identified in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The World Health Organization named the disease it causes Covid-19 in February 2020, saying “cov” stands for “corona,” “vi” for “virus, and “d” for disease; 19 refers to the year it emerged.

Is COVID-19 the same as SARS?

No. SARS is a different coronavirus that has also caused outbreaks in the past. It’s been less than two decades since SARS first emerged, so researchers have been able to use some of what they learned then to help them understand and respond to COVID-19 now.

Can a person who has recovered from COVID-19 become infected again?

The simple answer is yes. But there’s still much that’s not known about how immune systems respond to this novel coronavirus and whether that would protect people from reinfection.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment.

Around 1 out of every 6 people who get COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems, or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illnesses. People with fever, cough, and difficulty breathing should seek medical attention.
