Which of the following is not a driver of responsible competitiveness?
A. Policy drivers
B. Development drivers
C. Business action
D. Social enablers
Answer: Development drivers
The development driver is the person who has the greatest impact on a project. If you are developing a new product, it is the most senior person who will use it. If you are building an application, it is the person who will benefit most from its use. If you are designing a Web site, it is the person who is most likely to visit it.
The development driver is not necessarily the project’s sponsor or boss. Often that person has only a superficial interest in the project and cares much more about its cost, schedule and risk than about its quality. The development driver may be someone else — a user or customer — whose needs will be served or enhanced by what you deliver.
Find out who your development driver is early in your project. Make sure this person knows you exist, that he or she can contact you if necessary and that he or she cares about what you’re doing. Making these connections will help ensure that the final product meets real needs and solves real problems.
