CUET 2022 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is also known as the Central Universities Common Entrance Test and is conducted for admission to various Undergraduate, Integrated, Postgraduate, Diploma, Certification, and Research Programs at India’s 45 Central Universities. With the CUET 2022 exams likely conducted this year, knowing everything about the CUET syllabus and exam pattern is extremely important.

Every year, NTA issues notifications for the CUET UG exam in the month of April-May. Once, you appear for the exam, you have to look away and join the admission rally for your desired college. When the application process begins, the candidate is provided with all relevant information about CUET entry requirements. NTA CUET 2022 Exam Pattern

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has determined that the Common University Entrance Test 2022 would be divided into four sections:

  • Section I A: 13 Languages
  • Section I B: 19 Languages
  • Section 2: Domain-specific test
  • Section 3: General  test

The CUET 2022 exam is administered in computer-based test mode, i.e., online mode, and in 13 different languages.

  • Section 1 of the CUET Exam Pattern is broken into two sections:
  • Sections 1A
  • Section 1B

In the second shift, you will take the remaining four domain subjects as well as an optional language test (Section 1B).

International students are excused from completing the NTA CUET exam, and admissions are made on a supernumerary basis.

CUET 2022 Exam Pattern of SECTION 1 (Language Test)

The exam is specifically designed to assess your command of the language. The CUET-UG is a language exam.

The CUET question paper can be taken in any of the 13 languages. However, the majority of Indian applicants choose either English or Hindi.

Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, Odia, and English are the official languages.

Section I A (13 languages)

There would be 40 questions out of 50 to attempt.

Each language would have a 45-minute duration.

Reading comprehension questions will be asked. (based on various passage types–Factual, Literary, and Narrative, [Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary]) To gain a spot on the merit list for NTA CUET 2022, you must excel in Reading Comprehension.

A candidate can choose up to three languages from Sections IA and IB combined. (Instead of domain-specific subjects, one of the languages must be chosen.)

Note: 

  • With a usual word limit of 400-450 words, you might expect 5-8 Reading Comprehension.
  • The questions will be completely different.
  • To master RCs, you must practice editorial sections of newspapers and diverse literature.
  • You will be expected to master the art of avoiding time-consuming questions.

Section I B (19 languages)

Other languages, such as Kashmiri, French, Konkani, Spanish, Bodo, German, Dogri, Nepali, Maithili, Persian, Manipuri, Italian, Santhali, Arabic, Tibetian, Sindhi, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, and Sanskrit, must be attempted in part 1B.

The language test will include reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar questions designed to assess your English language skills.

CUET 2022 Exam Pattern of SECTION 2 (Domain-Specific Test)

This part contains 27 themes from which you must select six domains to pursue in your UG course. Examine the complete NTA CUET Syllabus 2022.

  • There would be 40 questions out of 50 to attempt.
  • Each language would have a 45-minute duration.
  • For objective-based questions, input text can be used.
  • The exam will include negative markings.
  • This section will include questions about the domain-specific topic.

CUET 2022 Exam Pattern of SECTION 3 (General Aptitude Test)

Admission to one of the 45 central universities requires completion of the general aptitude section. General tests will include:

  • General Knowledge
  • Current Affairs
  • Numerical Ability
  • General Mental Ability
  • Quantitative Reasoning (basic mathematical concepts)
  • Logical and Analytical
  • Reasoning

This portion will consist of multiple-choice questions based on NCERT textbooks, with negative marking for each incorrectly answered question.
